Invest in a Lingerie Bag
Honey-Can-Do Lingerie Wash Bag, $2.67 at Amazon
It's always advisable to use mesh bags. Not just while washing your lingerie or fine underwear, but even when handling your regular bras. It keeps underwear from stretching and evenly distributes water and detergent. This way your bra straps won't tangle with each other or get ripped by hooks or zippers.
Limit Washing
Some of us worry about the sweat and humidity our underwear comes in contact with and wash them after each use. That may not be the wisest thing. A good rule of thumb: If it smells or is stained, you can wash it. But if there's no particular problem, you can just rewear it. Finer lingerie and even more basic pieces get worn out faster if washed too often.

Try This Instead
Instead of machine washing, make some time to gently rinse your lingerie in the shower or sink. Machine washing can often be too harsh on delicate fabrics, even with the right detergent. A shower rinse gives it a more thorough cleanse and you can make sure it's thoroughly cleaned.

Air-Dry, Obviously
This may be too obvious, but do not put your underwear in the dryer. Air-drying is the best option, but try laying your lingerie down flat. Hanging it can stretch out the straps.

We can’t usually see what we wear beneath our clothes, so it’s no wonder that taking care of bras and panties usually falls by the wayside. But the most consistent love-hate relationship of our lives needs TLC, too. You may not be a fan of wearing bras or keeping your underwear on at all times, but you can take care of them so they last as long as possible — without them becoming fraying, discolored undergarments you’d rather die than lay claim to.
Our delicates need a specific kind of care, but most of us don’t have time to hand wash our lingerie. If you do, that’s great. But for the rest of us, there are a few machine basics that will make your life easier. After all, putting in a little work to make your lingerie last as long as possible is eons better than resorting to last year’s bathing suit bottoms, right?
