The Best Shows to Binge-Watch Thanksgiving Weekend

Chef's Table

Chef's Table is one of the best original Netflix documentary series (it was also the first!) and the fifth season was recently released. Each episode follows a renowned chef — and our favorite one to binge is the pastry chef season. Watch the Christina Tosi episode first to feel better about any binge eating that *may* have occurred and perhaps get inspired to whip up one of these dishes once you've recovered from your food coma. 

Younger

From the creator of Sex and the City, Younger is a lighthearted comedy with serious undertones like age discrimination. Here's a piece of trivia if you're binging in a group: a true SATC buff will recognize Charles Brooks (aka Peter Hermann) from a SATC episode. Who did he play? 

Model Squad

Sure, the drama is at times painfully contrived and there's something particularly irritating about seeing a size 0 model ordering french fries when your Thanksgiving jeans just popped, but Model Squad does offer fun escapism while also tackling serious issues like diversity in fashion and eating disorders. 

The Affair

It's Pacey Witter (aka Joshua Jackson) like you've never seen him! The Affair follows the effects of an extramarital affair and every episode is split to be told from each party's perspective. With so many cliffhangers, you'll be very grateful you have four seasons to binge. 

Money Heist

Watching a series with subtitles isn't for everyone, but even if you're skeptical, Money Heist is worth the mild annoyance. It's the most popular foreign series on Netflix ever and with so many unpredictable twists and turns, it's easy to see why. 

Narcos

Another worthy show is Narcos. The enthralling plot follows the rise of the cocaine trade in Colombia and the government trying to crack down on it. We're not talking CBD oil here! 

Queer Eye

If you're looking for a show where you can watch random episodes in any order, check out this reboot of the classic show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, which is now on Netflix. 

Billions

If you've ever itched to invest in the stock market, Billions will probably turn you off it. The show follows a cat-and-mouse game between U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades and hedge fund tycoon Bobby Axelrod, who makes his billions with a heavy dose of corruption and abuse of insider information. 

Ugly Delicious

While there's some valid criticism waged on David Chang's Ugly Delicious, there's no denying it's a totally engaging travelogue. Each episode is independent, so you can pick and choose from episode titles like "Pizza" or "Tacos." Start with "Home Cooking," the Thanksgiving episode.

Now that Black Friday shopping begins a good week before Thanksgiving and is mostly online, Thanksgiving has turned into a whopping four days to overeat and Netflix and chill. Classics like Sex and the City, Ugly Betty, Friends and pretty much anything Bravo never get old, but this year why not shake things up with one of these gripping shows.
