Gigi Hadid and Giampaolo Sgura Aren’t a Match Made in Heaven for Vogue Mexico

Anything Bella Hadid can do, Gigi Hadid can do better, right? The sisters are currently in fierce competition and the battle is over who can amass the highest amount of Vogue covers. Gigi just scored her fourth of 2019 (while sister Bella currently holds a total of five). Fresh from Vogue Czechoslovakia, Gigi makes her debut as a Vogue Mexico cover girl for June 2019. Gigi poses on the beach before the lens of photographer Giampaolo Sgura serving up a pair of covers styled by Paul Cavaco.

Neither cover hit the spot for our forum members, however. “Definitely not a good look for Gigi. I can’t believe a so-called respected fashion photographer is responsible for this,” proclaimed Benn98 the moment the covers came out.

“Bland and simple covers, typical boring photography by Sgura,” burbuja8910 chimed in.

“It’s a very sad expression, especially for a summer cover. I expected more from Cavaco,” Xone added.

“Summertime sadness,” echoed an underwhelmed MDNA.

In agreement was Zposen: “The clothes look awkward on her, hate the styling.”

Also quick to take aim at the styling was MON, asking, “Who in their right minds would suggest this look to its readers? Like ew.”

“Poor all around. Gigi always falls flat with a natural no-makeup look — she needs full-on glamour to shine. As for Sgura, his leverage in the fashion industry never ceases to amaze me considering what a poor photographer he is. How does he keep booking these jobs?!” asked a dumbfounded 333101.

Embroidered Tattoos Are Instagram’s Latest Must-Try Trend

You know that Cinderella moment when you discover something that makes you feel oh so pretty? Well, embroidered tattoos are the new way to experience some of that fairy-tale magic.

Embroidered tattoos are the hottest things on Instagram right now, probably because they look like they’ve actually been embroidered on your skin. The tats are done with special finesse to make them look almost 3-D. They’re obviously a lot more intriguing than regular watercolor tattoos. You can actually bring in a patch of fabric or a fancy shawl and ask your tattoo artist to recreate the look on any part of your body.

Keep in mind that embroidered tattoos may take longer to apply, especially if you’re going for something expansive. And it’s important to go to an artist you trust that has some experience creating the intricate designs.

Before you make up your mind, let’s look at some of the best ones Instagram has to offer.

Beauty Brand Jecca Blac Is Out to Prove Makeup Has No Gender

U.K.-based beauty label Jecca Blac is driven by a simple mantra: makeup has no gender. Founded by makeup artist Jessica Blackler, the brand’s first priority is to create a safe space for transgender women so they can “look and feel fabulous.”

Genderless beauty is, of course, nothing new — many brands have experimented with inclusivity in the makeup industry. But there are very few names catering to trans women or supporting those who are transitioning. Jessica would get several requests for beauty tips from trans women around the world and realized the industry was lacking when it came to serving the transgender community. She began offering makeup lessons in her studio to fill the void.

It all culminated in 2015 when she unveiled Jecca Blac. “I always say, make-up is just pigment and of course anyone can use it. However, our customer base felt very overlooked by mainstream beauty brands – they just didn’t resonate. We offer make-up lessons, products and support that simply hasn’t been done before, such as beard shadow coverage and tips on how to ‘feminise the face’,” Jessica told Dazed Digital.

The Polo Dress Is the Silhouette of the Summer

Coachella is usually the place to spot cutoffs, mesh tops and Dr. Martens so we were slightly surprised to see Olivia Culpo rocking a polo dress to the festival. While the traditional polo shirt was recently treated to a revamp, the dress form seemed largely forgotten. That’s why we’ve decided to set our sights on the versatile silhouette for summer.

Brands like Lacoste have been pushing polo dresses to the sporty set, especially those of us who enjoy a good game of tennis. But the dresses can be worn off the court as well. Brands like Zara, A.P.C., Sonia Rykiel and Y/Project are offering up modern takes on the classic warm weather staple.

Whether you favor short and striped or looser interpretations, there’s one that fits your lifestyle. Here are the coolest polo dresses for summer.

Imaan Hammam Stuns on Vogue Russia’s June 2019 Cover

You have to give a standing ovation to ANY magazine that gives its cover to models who actually deserve to have a Vogue cover in their portfolios. So props to Vogue Russia for making Imaan Hammam its June 2019 cover star, following in the footsteps of Kendall Jenner, Grace Elizabeth and Luna Bijl. Our forum members have been firm favorites of Imaan’s since day one with Russian Vogue‘s latest marking the Dutch beauty’s third Vogue cover of 2019. Photographed by Chris Colls with Celia Azoulay on styling duties, Imaan gives good face wearing Hermes.

Naturally, the cover was a total triumph. “This is gorgeous. On top of being stunning, she has such a strong presence. Easily one of the best models we have at the moment,” applauded Morgane07.

“Reminds me a little of those sunless studio-shot summer covers we used to get from Vogue Italia,” reminisced tigerrouge.

“Stunning shot, I love these colors, they make the cover very sophisticated. Also, it’s nice to see a model of color on the cover of Vogue Russia,” commended apple.

“Took an instant liking to this upon first look earlier, think it’s near perfect and that’s good enough for me. Always nice to see Imaan Hammam land the cover of Vogue, growing increasingly fond of Colls’ work, love the use of Hermes and oddly enough I’m even a fan of the pale masthead,” raved an equally impressed vogue28.

MON shared the same level of enthusiasm, adding, “Stunning. This is truly a Vogue cover.”

“What a face! Stunning!” declared jorgepalomo.

“Oh, this cover is absolutely gorgeous!” echoed Velasco.
