Bella Hadid Really Shines on Two Amazing ELLE France Covers

Bella Hadid is newsstand gold and continues to be a regular fixture on top fashion glossies. Over the past six months alone, the current face of Moschino and Versace has amassed a plethora of covers, including Vogue Russia, Vogue Greece, Vogue Spain and Vogue Japan. Bella’s latest addition to her portfolio is a set of covers for French ELLE. Shot down on the beach in Malibu by Zoey Grossman, Bella is your quintessential beach babe wearing a striped Eugenia Kim hat and Bulgari jewelry on cover one (below) and sports a black lacy Christian Dior number for the second cover (after the jump).

Bella completely won over our forums. “Beautiful, the thing is they really knew how to perfectly use Bella. She might be one-note, but that one note is stuff like this,” noted Miss Dalloway.

“WOW!! STUNNING PICTURE!!” proclaimed an elated jorgepalomo.

“Only love for this…” said KissMiss.

Also impressed by the outcome was Ken Doll Jenner: “Now that is a timeless image. Bella Hadid may be a one-trick pony, but with the right styling, direction and photographer, she’s capable of arresting glamour.”

“Stunning. It’s like Helena [Christensen] staring back at us from 1993,” raved A.D.C.

“This is STUNNING. There are a lot of valid points against Bella, but it’s undeniable that the woman takes stunning photographs. This is no different. I love this,” shared MON.

“Wow! What a beautiful and striking cover. Bella has been killing it lately. I’m actually starting to like her,” GivenchyHomme admitted.

Nomar described the first cover as “simple and timeless” and we couldn’t agree more.

Edita Vilkeviciute Sizzles on Vogue Poland’s Stunning Summer Cover

Vogue Poland hasn’t impressed our forum members since late 2018, but the magazine has our full attention with its sultry offering for July/August 2019. We usually rely on Vogue Paris for quintessential summer covers, but Polish Vogue just satiated our seasonal cravings. Chris Colls photographed Edita Vilkeviciute on the island of Ibiza with Claire Dhelens on styling duties. Complete with slicked hair, very little makeup and an outfit from Gucci, Edita has our forum members hoping summer sticks around.

“Love it! They seem to be getting better and better. I’m not even one for gratuitous nudity, but this just looks stunning. Defined expression, perfect hair and makeup, and I like the composition. Colls is in top form here,” praised Benn98.

“Edita ALWAYS delivers,” declared KateTheGreatest.

[ Not a tFS forum member yet? Click here to join! ]

“How wonderful, in the perfect mood for this cover!” approved Miss Dalloway.

Also quick to show the cover some love was Valentine27: “Edita is always a good choice. Very glad to see her on the cover. Finally a good one from Vogue Poland! I love everything about it — casting, tones, location, styling, composition.”

“Love it, very sexy yet tough,” commented Urban Stylin.

But not everyone loved the cover. “The hand over the boob just seems so random, forced and unnecessary that it ruined a possible decent cover,” critiqued Breathless.

“The hand on the boob looks very strange and uncomfortable,” agreed GivenchyHomme.

Await more from the shoot and join the debate here.

Neon Activewear Pieces Guaranteed to Be the Highlight of Your Workout Wardrobe

Nearly a decade ago, before there was a Carbon38 and Bandier, the fitness scene was dominated by neon activewear courtesy of brands like Nike, Adidas and Under Armour. When niche labels started popping up, the tide started to shift and trendsetting women in fitness classes started to veer away from bright colors in favor of more sophisticated neutrals. Then the athleisure movement demanded workout clothes you could rock from the gym straight to the bar, which is obviously not easy to do with a bright neon tank top that says “Just Do It.”

Now, a number of influential athleisure brands are launching fashion-forward neon pieces you’ll want to wear everywhere. “I think we will always see neon colors since they’re so bright and energetic, but we are in a full neon moment right now,” says Alala founder Denise Lee. “We used single neon colors for our pieces as I think it looks more sophisticated than having pieces with multiple neon colors on the same style. We also kept them very simple with sleek silhouettes so as not to overwhelm the wearer.”

If you’re feeling bold, Lee suggests going all-out with a neon bra and tights combo. “I think that it’s an amazing look, especially if you’re working out outdoors,” she explains. “If you want, you can always break it up with a black or white sweatshirt tied around your waist. If you’re like me and wearing a full neon outfit is not your style, then I think the bra or cropped tank layered under an oversized off-the-shoulder tee is a super cute look or you can even pair it with gray sweatpants for a lifting session.”

Check out our slideshow above for some standout neon activewear pieces.

Blush is an important part of our glow-up routines. But it’s so much more than a way to highlight your cheekbones. If you use it right, blush can really give your whole face a lift.

Billie Eilish Appears Lifeless on Vogue Australia’s ‘Lame’ July 2019 Cover

We’re often greeted by the same old faces down at the newsstand each month so our forum members relish when one of our favorite fashion glossies is brave enough to give a cover to someone new. Case in point: Vogue Australia picking Billie Eilish to front its July 2019 issue. Photographed by Jesse Lizotte and styled by Jillian Davison, the American singer and songwriter wears Balenciaga in the portrait-style cover shot.

IMAGE: VOGUE.COM.AU

But the cover failed to hit the spot. “Very happy for Jesse Lizotte scoring his first Vogue Australia cover! As for the actual cover, I’m afraid it doesn’t appeal to me at all,” critiqued Benn98.

“Can’t say anything because I am biased — can’t stand her pretentious music and persona,” ranted dontbeadrag.

[ Not a tFS forum member yet? Click here to join! ]

“What a lame cover, sigh!” expressed an underwhelmed Miss Dalloway.

Also not exactly jumping for joy was Bertrando3: “LOL what the hell is this? I don’t know who she is, but she looks sleepy as f*** and high and the styling is awful — and the hair and makeup. How can this land a Vogue cover?”

“Maybe a dose of caffeine would help?” asked Ken Doll Jenner.

“This generation’s female Vanilla Ice, LOL. She’s making the most of her 15 minutes,” scoffed VanTerminator.

“I love Billie’s music, but this cover is a nonevent for me. It’s too up close and sleepy, and don’t get me started on the layout again,” complained dodencebt.

The Exact Order to Apply Your Skin Care Products Each and Every Day

As much as we love a quick five-minute routine, it’s important to take the time to make sure our skin is equipped to tackle the hazards we face every single day. From UV rays to pollution, it all takes a toll.

Although we spend lots of money on our skin care regimens, the best toners and masks won’t work if they aren’t applied the right way. So we decided to break down the right order to apply your skin care products for maximum efficacy. (FYI: We skipped lip scrubs and eye masks, but you should still add them to your lineup as needed.) At night, repeat steps one through six and just add a retinol product before finishing things off with your face oil of choice.

Kendall Jenner Stars on L’Officiel’s ‘Pedestrian’ Summer 2019 Cover

The American edition of L’Officiel has been on the market for two years, but never truly captured the attention of our forum members — until now. Leave it to Kendall Jenner to give the publication the recognition it deserves by starring on L’Officiel‘s Summer 2019 issue. Kendall has been everywhere this year, covering the likes of Vogue Italia, Allure, Vogue Russia and Vogue Australia. The current face of Roberto Cavalli and Tiffany & Co. is all smiles wearing an AG Jeans denim jacket and Cartier jewelry for Russell James’ fresh and vibrant portrait cover shot.

Members of our forums were not feeling the cover. “Still dead in the eyes as ever, I see…” pointed out Steddycam91.

“Doesn’t look like her at all. Awful cover and I don’t get the styling,” said Benn98.

“Imagine having so many months to prepare yet they end up with something as pedestrian as monthly magazines produce on a tight schedule. Sad actually,” ranted MON.

[ Not a tFS forum member yet? Click here to join! ]

In the same frame of mind was jorgepalomo: “Meh! L’Officiel Mexico produces better covers with a smaller budget… and every month.”

“I still don’t get the trend of launching weird magazine titles, such as L’Officiel, which has been a dead magazine for years now even in their motherland of France. And then to make a move like putting the richest and most expensive model of the moment on the cover,” noted a dumbfounded Alien Sex Friend.

Gabriel29 wasn’t a fan, either. “Isn’t this supposed to be a fashion magazine? She’s wearing AG Jeans on the cover in the most pedestrian picture imaginable! Imagine having unparalleled access to designer clothes and this is what you come up with.”

“Looks like one of those pictures you take in a photo booth at a mall,” declared GivenchyHomme.

Undone Brows Are the Perfect Way to Finish Off Your No-Makeup Makeup Look

Images: Imaxtree

Colorful eyeshadow and punchy lip colors draw attention to our faces, but eyebrows really frame our features. In the age of Instagram, polished brows sculpted with concealer, highlighter, brow gel and a few different pencils are the ideal. But this summer, less is definitely more.

Understated, natural brows have always been an option, but undone brows have proved popular on recent runways next to louder trends like yellow eyeshadow and barrettes. Certain celebs have already bucked the overdone look in favor of showing the natural beauty of their brows. (See Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and Taylor Hill.) And remember when boyfriend brows (undone, bushy brows with a textured finish) went viral?

There’s a reason natural brows are staging a comeback. “Eyebrows in general help define and frame the face and eye shape as well as add balance and symmetry to facial features,” says Janeena Billera, senior global makeup artist and educator at Glo Skin Beauty. “Full, natural-looking brows aid in a more youthful appearance by softening facial features altogether.”

But there’s a difference between undone and messy. Even when taking a more low-key approach, we still want our brows to look groomed. So we asked the experts how to strike the right balance to achieve gorgeous undone brows.

Kaia Gerber and Steven Meisel Reunite for Jimmy Choo’s Fall 2019 Campaign

Anything Steven Meisel photographs usually gets applause from our forum members. We’re the first to admit that not every magazine cover or advertising campaign shot by the legendary lensman is perfection (like Meisel’s campaign for Jimmy Choo last season). But the brand is determined to make the partnership work by picking Meisel and Kaia Gerber for its Fall 2019 ad campaign. Ditching the gray backdrop in favor of a clean, crisp and white studio setting, the three-time Vogue Paris cover girl poses up a storm unveiling Jimmy Choo’s new monogrammed collection.

IMAGE: CRFASHIONBOOK.COM

Despite the brand’s best efforts, our forum members weren’t thrilled. “Kendall and Gigi did it better for Fendi!” voiced Benn98.

“Don’t think Kendall and Gigi did it better, but I agree this looks exactly just like that campaign!” artemovartem chimed in.

[ Not a tFS forum member yet? Click here to join! ]

“Much prefer last season over this, largely due to the fact it reminds me of the Fendi campaign from 2017 with Kendall and Gigi. It feels like such a blatant copy. Also feel like the new JC monogram handbags need more exposure — they’re completely lost here,” added vogue28.

“I don’t mind the poses and styling, but the graphic design is so cheesy, it ruins it IMO,” disapproved kokobombon.

TommysBaby wasn’t much of a fan, either. “Kaia by Meisel: I had high expectations when I clicked on the thread, but it’s not as exciting as it sounded. I do see the similarity with that Kendall and Gigi Fendi campaign and that was much better. Also the JC logo is so unnecessary — I immediately think Juicy Couture, NOT Jimmy Choo. Why is everyone jumping on the logomania bandwagon?”

“This…is coming from Meisel? How the mighty have fallen,” noted Ken Doll Jenner.

Vogue Japan Just Gave Kim Kardashian Her Best Vogue Cover Yet

Vogue Japan’s usually pretty good to us on the model front, regularly giving covers to Bella Hadid, Naomi Campbell and Shalom Harlow. After her recent solo debut on the cover of American Vogue, Kim Kardashian scores the August 2019 cover of Vogue Japan. Shot by Luigi & Iango and styled by Anna Dello Russo, Kim sports a Chalayan mask and Bulgari jewelry on the eye-catching cover.

Members of our forums were pretty pleased with the outcome. “I love this! Glamorous. Different,” approved MON.

“Definitely the best she’s ever looked in Vogue! Completely in love with this. It’s fantastic how someone finally dared to style Kim in a way she doesn’t usually do, it’s very refreshing to see,” proclaimed aracic.

[ Not a tFS forum member yet? Click here to join! ]

“This is the best she’s ever looked. Anna did a fantastic job with the styling,” praised caioherrero.

“It’s surprisingly good,” agreed crmsnsnwflks.

“Photoshopped to death and yet I don’t mind it since this is the best she’s ever looked in an editorial. And dare I say, this is one of the most fashion-y, glamorous and out-there editorials of a celebrity I’ve seen in a while. Kim just went for it!” raved dodencebt.

Forum member tigerrouge was also in awe: “There’s something about the shot that reminds me of old Vogue covers. Maybe it’s the mannered way in which people held their hands in those images, combined with the classic jewelry and clean white space.”

Karl Lagerfeld’s Famous Friends Pay Tribute to the Late Designer in Paris

The fashion industry has been in mourning ever since the death of Karl Lagerfeld in February. Lagerfeld said he’d “rather die” than have a grand sendoff, but that didn’t stop some of his famous friends from honoring the late designer in Paris last night.

Karl For Ever was put together by the houses of Fendi, Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld (naturally) and featured fashion’s elite. We’re talking Anna Wintour, recently knighted Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Alber Elbaz, Jonathan Anderson, Pierpaolo Piccioli, Alessandro Michele, Gigi Hadid and more. The 90-minute tribute held at the Grand Palais included grand black-and-white portraits of the man of the hour and performances by Pharrell Williams, Helen Mirren, Tilda Swinton, Cara Delevingne and others. Attendees were also treated to footage of Lagerfeld’s interviews over the years.

One-Shoulder Tops Are Back and Better Than Ever

Isabel Marant Spring 2019.

A one-shoulder sighting at Isabel Marant Spring 2019; Image: Imaxtree

Fashion, like history, tends to repeat itself. The current loop brought back a bounty of noughties trends we thought we’d seen the last of in 2006. Low-rise jeans, dresses over pants and saddle bags have all made their way back into our wardrobes. The latest early 2000s style to jump into modern times? The one-shoulder top.

Hellessy Fall 2019.

There’s nothing more noughties than layering a tube top over a one-shoulder top a la Hellessy Fall 2019; Image: Imaxtree

One-shoulder tops were worn by every It girl in the 2000s and were as ubiquitous as Juicy Couture tracksuits and UGG boots. And the new crop of asymmetrical tops wouldn’t look out of place in 2003. There are formfitting varieties along with fresher blouse-like silhouettes. Sleeve lengths and embellishments vary drastically so make sure you choose the best one-shoulder top for your outfit and the weather.
