A model extravaganza is sometimes all you need to lift your spirits. And Chaos SixtyNine feeds our need with the unveiling of its latest issue. After first catching our attention back in 2018 with a series of covers showcasing models morphing into Mickey Mouse, the British biannual publication is back in the spotlight with its Issue #5 dedicated entirely to Chanel. The 13 collectible covers feature top models like Bella and Gigi Hadid, Adut Akech, Kendall Jenner, Natasha Poly, Vittoria Ceretti and Imaan Hammam wearing the French fashion house captured by Luigi & Iango, Cass Bird, Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin or Jean-Baptiste Mondino.

What more could we ask for? “It looks quite spectacular to me,” praised aracic.

“Luigi & Iango are giving me life! I love how they mix the best of M&M and Steven Meisel,” kokobombon chimed in.

“My name is written all over this, right up my alley in terms of a Luigi & Iango and Chanel overload — all in addition to the presence of Natasha Poly,” raved vogue28.

“There are actually quite a few covers that I like, including the one of Imaan, Mona, Vittoria and (sadly) Kendall,” admitted bluestar.

But not everyone was head over heels. “There are some cute ones, but most of them are unnecessary,” said misszk.

We were delighted to find that there are lots of stylish plus-size one-pieces available. There are plenty of prints (think polka dots and florals) and standout hues to choose from. Style them now with a cool pair of flip flops and a statement choker. Switch things up in September by working in a fall-appropriate straw bag and a cardigan designed for warmer weather.

Akridge adds that the ingredient can actually be used on a variety of skin types from dry to oily. “Tea tree oil is thought to have anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties because it soothes the skin and can even be used on mildly irritated skin.” You can also apply it to cuts and use it to heal infections. It’s also ideal for dealing with acne caused by wearing face masks.

Misan Harriman Becomes the First Black Man to Photograph British Vogue’s Cover

Edward Enninful is breathing new life into British Vogue. This year alone, we’ve witnessed 85-year-old Judi Dench make her U.K. Vogue debut, were blessed with a trio of covers celebrating frontline workers and treated to a whopping 14 covers featuring British landscapes just last month. Now the September issue has dropped and once again Enninful lands himself in the history books. Misan Harriman becomes the first black man to capture the front cover (below) in the magazine’s history with Adwoa Aboah and Marcus Rashford starring in the black-and-white cover image. Enninful also handpicked “faces of hope” from around the globe, including Dr. Meenal Viz, Tamika D. Mallory, Riz Ahmed, Janet Mock, Angela Davis, Jane Elliott, Alice Wong, Jesse Williams, Joan Smalls, Reni Eddo-Lodge, Yvette Williams and Patrick Hutchinson snapped by Texas Isaiah, Philip-Daniel Ducasse, Reginald Cunningham and Chrisean Rose.

Unfortunately, the cover did not fare well on our forums. “Edward, my love, it’s getting old and boring!” declared helmutnotdead.

“So basically they did the same thing as their last September cover?” asked depordetioz.

“It’s a resounding NO from me, unfortunately. I understand the world is changing and in no way am I discrediting what the people included champion for, but Vogue is a fashion magazine first and foremost and the fashion angle is missing here,” critiqued vogue28.

In the same frame of mind was MON: “The world is crumbling with hundreds dying every second and the last thing we’d all like to see is a cover that feels like a funeral. This is not the face of hope. This is why I look to Vogue Paris for fashion content.”

“I am so done with activism in fashion. Where is fashion in fashion?” wondered Scotty.

“As much as I applaud Edward for tackling social issues, this is Vogue not Time or The Telegram. He can cover social issues without compromising the fashion which is just as important,” agreed Urban Stylin.

Handbag Queen was also disappointed. “I don’t think fashion magazines should be in the business of ramming politics down our throats thinking they’ll stay relevant. Most of the social activists probably don’t read fashion magazines. Enough is enough!”

It’s Time to Add Hydrating Toners to Your Skin Care Routine

Toner has a bad rap as an unnecessary step that leaves skin parched and stripped. But that’s far from the case these days. Now, it’s all about hydrating toners that actually add moisture while balancing your complexion.

They’re especially popular in Asian countries. And as Christine Chang, co-CEO and co-founder of Korean skin care destination Glow Recipe, explains, hydrating toners (often referred to as “softeners”) typically make up “the first leave-on step of hydration after cleansing.” In terms of function, she notes they’re quite different from traditional American face toners. They’re not typically used to cleanse (what with the advent of double-cleansing) and are “instead used to infuse the skin quickly and efficiently with liquid hydration, plumping it up for the next skin care steps to be effectively absorbed.”

So what’s the best way to add toners to your routine? Well, they’re perfect for the buzzy seven-skin method. “Our favorite way to incorporate a hydrating toner is actually by practicing the seven-skin method, a method we had heard about from our editor friends and beauty gurus in Korea,” says Glow Recipe co-CEO and co-founder Sarah Lee. “It’s where you put on a layer of hydrating toner seven consecutive times.”

Sound like overkill? “You can also adapt this method for days you don’t need as much hydration and alternate by using a three-skin method, layering just three layers,” adds Lee.

We’re all still trying to enjoy summer. Even Kendall Jenner is taking the time to take it all in. And share it with us on Instagram. Recently, the in-demand model posted a pic of her sipping wine in a summery dress by burgeoning brand House of Sunny. Which admittedly got us longing for knit dresses in every shape, size and shade. But with fall steadily approaching, we were initially hesitant about spending money on anything we’ll have to pack away in a few weeks.

So when we started our search for the best knit dresses out there, we made sure to set our sights on the ones with the most staying power. In other words, ones that are super easy to layer. Rihanna Covers Harper’s Bazaar’s All-Important September 2020 Issue

Rihanna is newsstand gold. Whether the songstress turned fashion and beauty mogul is serving up stellar covers for British Vogue, giving American Vogue its best cover in months or looking almost unrecognizable on Interview, she nails it each and every time. So we aren’t surprised that Harper’s Bazaar invited the icon back for a fifth time with the unveiling of its all-important September issue for 2020. Photographed by Gray Sorrenti, Rihanna gives good face sporting a face full of Fenty Beauty and a white Fenty shirt on the newsstand cover (below). For the subscribers’ alternative (after the jump), she works a Bottega Veneta coat under vibrant blue skies.

The covers went down as a real treat — for the most part. “Rihanna is always a welcome cover subject!” cheered aracic.

“Tens, tens, tens across the board!” raved dodencebt.

“THIS IS WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT! Great job, Harper’s Bazaar. This might be their best September cover in years,” approved crmsnsnwflks.

KINGofVERSAILLES shared the same enthusiasm: “I quite like both covers. It feels relevant to the activism and social movements afoot, but not removed from the fashion and commercialism I want and expect from Bazaar.”

“Nice, always a pleasure to see Rihanna on magazine covers, but it could, undoubtedly, have been far better. They’ve certainly redeemed themselves after Rihanna’s May 2019 cover, which was almost headache-inducing,” critiqued vogue28.

Not everyone was shouting from the rooftops, however. “I’m sorry but Rihanna looks terrible! What a waste of a great cover subject,” disapproved RMDV.

San Marco described the outcome as “predictable,” but do you agree?
