The Unexpected Layering Device We’re Employing This Winter

There are certain essentials required for layering during the winter months. Well, at least when it comes to the fashion faithful. Like turtlenecks, hoodies and button-downs. But this season, we’re flipping the script a bit by investing in sheer shirts to wear under all of our other layers.

The reason for the switch? Sheer or mesh tops are usually a bit too risqué to wear solo. Slip one on as your base layer though and you’ve camouflaged the revealing section.

Our favorite way to wear them? Tucked under a sweater vest. They also really pop under a comfy cardigan. For patterned turtleneck versions, pair them with a basic sweatshirt to up your loungewear game.

Once spring arrives, go ahead and sport yours under the aforementioned button-downs. Or cover up what’s left on display with a tank top.

Discover the coolest sheer shirts to incorporate into your wardrobe above.

Modeling Icon Iman Stuns on a Pair of February 2021 Covers for British Harper’s Bazaar

We’re all for fresh faces greeting us down at newsstands and Lydia Slater has been delivering just that with the covers of British Harper’s Bazaar. The mag has gifted us Lashana Lynch along with Daisy Edgar-Jones and Gillian Anderson and kick-started 2021 with a fresh-faced Lucan Gillespie. Now we’re treated to Iman for February 2021 courtesy of photographer Paola Kudacki. The 65-year-old icon sports Alexander McQueen on the newsstand cover (below) and a threeASFOUR creation for the subscribers’ alternative (after the jump).

The covers caught the attention of our forum members. “Simple yet so stunning! I’d tone the styling down a bit, but the red and black befit Iman’s icon status. They’ve done her justice,” approved Benn98.

“The cover is a breath of fresh air, love the use of black and white teamed with the red masthead and fonts, which feels bold and refreshing for British Bazaar. No complaints here!” raved vogue28.

“This is stunning! Now compare this to Kendall Jenner‘s Vogue China cover. Here Iman is stunning: good pose, strong stare, the clothes look great and there’s power…” Bertrando3 pointed out.

“Nice to see Iman on the cover and the main story is just beautiful. Edward Enninful should take notes…” declared burbuja8910.

But not everyone was in the same frame of mind. “It looks like Australian Bazaar to me. I love seeing Iman, but I’m not crazy about the cover. Maybe it will look more impactful in real life,” said Srdjan.

“I mean, when you make Iman look pedestrian, it’s just game over! From the bad lighting to the horrible styling to the drab black and white shot for February. No!” exclaimed Miss Dalloway.

Meanwhile, annikad described the outcome as “simply stunning,” but do you agree?

Our Favorite Gel Products Treat Everything From Dry Skin to Acne

In winter we tend to reach for thicker skin care products. Especially when it comes to moisturizer. But you don’t need to slather on heavy creams to stay hydrated. The best gel products also deliver glowing results.

And they don’t just combat parched complexions. There are formulas that relieve redness and sensitivity. Blemishes keep popping up? Try Clinique’s topical treatment. If anti-aging skin care is what you’re after, DHC’s multitasking gel cream featuring collagen and elastin is a great option.

The good news is you don’t have to spend a fortune to add these gel products to your regimen. While Erno Laszlo’s sleeping mask is well worth its $108 price tag, Neutrogena’s beloved gel moisturizer rings in at a little over $17.

Ready to lighten up? Here are the best gel products to use all year long.

Putting Together a Chic Outfit Is a Cinch Thanks to These Belted Must-Haves

Belts are often the unsung heroes of outfits. They can help us rein in our clothing or just provide that extra oomph that makes an ensemble a lewk. While we love adding a bold belt to our favorite winter coats, there’s an even easier way to make a statement. After all, there are tons of belted clothes currently on offer.

First a clarification. When we say belts, we’re not talking about those handy ties. No, we’re focusing on items with actual belts included.

If you think that really limits the options, think again. Dresses, shirts, skirts, pants and even jumpsuits are all on the table. And they boast a variety of belts. From big buckles to skinny bands to chain versions, the offerings are almost endless.

See the slideshow above for the best belted clothes that instantly elevate any ensemble.

Kamala Harris Deserves Better Than Vogue’s Disappointing February 2021 Covers

We have to admit that Anna Wintour’s recent selection of cover subjects has been stellar. Both Naomi Campbell and Harry Styles graced the American fashion bible at the end of 2020. The mag also kicked off 2021 on a high note with four absolutely striking covers of Frances McDormand, Naomi Osaka, Paloma Elsesser along with Rosalía. Now, following in the footsteps of ELLE, Anna selects vice president-elect Kamala Harris for a pair of Vogue February 2021 covers with Tyler Mitchell behind the lens.

Our forum members obviously aren’t feeling either cover. “Zara is more luxurious,” Miran called out.

GivenchyHomme isn’t pleased: “This is why you don’t rush a very important cover.”

“The styling is so off-putting, especially in contrast to the rich, colorful, Victorian-esque background. It’s almost like you want to put her in a Marie Antoinette wig and gown at this point,” said GERGIN.

Ken Doll Jenner clearly isn’t impressed. “This has Tyler Mitchell written all over it. The whole thing could’ve been more tolerable if the cheap-looking curtain wasn’t there, it wasn’t a full-length shot and it was in black and white.”

“Everything about this photo is terrible. The styling, the pose, the set design, etc. I wish she was in full glam and a better suit,” commented an unforgiving gunsnroses.

“I’m not expecting Vogue to turn Kamala into a Hollywood siren, but this? It just doesn’t feel right,” voiced dodencebt.

“I understand not wanting to glam her up in the middle of the pandemic before she has even been sworn in, but they could’ve at least given her a sharp suit a la Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Vanity Fair,” added a definitely disappointed Yohji.

Kendall Jenner Stars on Vogue China’s Spring-Worthy February 2021 Cover

All eyes have been on Vogue China recently following Angelica Cheung’s sudden departure from the publication. The majority of the magazine’s front covers in 2020 failed to impress our forum members, even with cover stars like Billie Eilish, Natalia Vodianova and Kaia Gerber. Cheung rounded out her tenure last month with a stunning Xiao Wen Ju offering. Now Kendall Jenner ushers in a new era for the Chinese fashion bible with the February 2021 issue. Captured by Autumn de Wilde, the popular model fittingly wears a floral Gucci dress (selected by stylist Max Ortega) while surrounded by flowers and greenery.

The cover was a flop on our forums. “Angelica come back! Please!” pleaded Nomar the moment the cover dropped.

“What an insipid cover…” Miss Dalloway chimed in.

“The cover is so bad. Kendall, blink twice if you need help. How can Kendall have been modeling for six years and still show no improvement? She’s the poster child of everything I hate about nepotism models,” declared an uninterested THD96.

Ghesquiere32 was also less than thrilled: “This and her Vogue Japan cover are both horrible covers. Stop sticking this girl on covers, it just doesn’t work. But Kendall has taught everybody one important lesson: just because you are tall, thin and pretty does not mean you are meant to model.”

“I mean it’s not terrible but somehow lifeless and definitely pedestrian,” admitted WAVES.

“A surprisingly unflattering photo of Kendall who, despite lacking in modeling skills, normally looks really beautiful in photos. Her hair is a mess, too. I like the setting and the vibe, though. It’s not terrible, it’s just kinda meh,” added KINGofVERSAILLES.

“I don’t hate the cover, it’s very understated and romantic without being too corny,” defended Benn98.
