Filmmaker Andrew Rossi is known for such socio-political documentaries as Page One: Inside the New York Times and Ivory Tower. For Rossi’s latest project, 7 Days Out, he takes viewers behind the scenes of the excitement that happens seven days prior to major live fashion, sports, space and food events.
“Over time, people come to forget that the camera is there. It’s all about developing that trust, which is the biggest challenge in making a show like this,” Rossi tells Vogue. “Typically I have a year or so with subjects to develop trust over time. In this case, we land at the most nerve-wracking moment and embed ourselves with people as they’re in the final seven days to an event.”
An hour-long episode will be dedicated to Chanel’s Spring 2018 Haute Couture collection and runway show. Rossi gets up close and personal with Chanel’s creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, Amanda Harlech and the seamstresses in the week leading up to the show. Other events covered in the six-part series include the Kentucky Derby, the Westminster Dog Show, the League Of Legends Championship, NASA’s Cassini Mission and the opening of Eleven Madison Park.
7 Days Out will be released on December 21 on Netflix, just in time for a little holiday binge watching. In the meantime, check out Chanel’s Spring 2018 Haute Couture show below.
