21 Questions With… Supermodel Karolina Kurkova

You know Karolina Kurkova from the Victoria’s Secret runway and print campaigns for a never-ending list of designer brands: Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Tommy Hilfiger, Max Mara, Bottega Veneta, Donna Karan, Celine, Fendi, Elie Saab, rag & bone, Jean Paul Gaultier, Roberto Cavalli, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Versace, to name a few. She has also modeled for brands like Mango and H&M and walked in countless major ready-to-wear and Haute Couture shows. She even has a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

While Kurkova continues to model — recently she was the first cover model featured on Vogue Czechoslovaki — she’s also the mother of two young children. We caught up with Kurkova, who just launched a collection with baby product company Cybex, and asked her our quickfire questions.

1. The first thing I do in the morning is… drink hot water and lemon.
2. The last thing I Googled was… activities for my kids.
3. If my days had one extra hour I’d… read a book!
4. The best surprising beauty advice I ever received was… less is more.
5. My desert island beauty product is… Biologique Recherche Lotion P50.
6. When I hear that girls/women are down on themselves because they can’t live up to the image models project… I tell them to strive to be the best version of themselves, to be healthy and let them know that even models face challenges.
7. When I’m stressed I… meditate.
8. When my self-confidence has taken a hit I… spend time with my kids to get me grounded and get me connected to what really matters.
9. My guilty pleasure is… chocolate and fresh, homemade whipped cream.
10. My most memorable career highlight is… being Marilyn Manson for a cover shoot.
11. When it comes to working out I… like to change things up between Pilates, barre, spinning and yoga.
12. A career achievement I’m dying to check off… singing in front of an audience.
13. If you looked at my desktop you’d see… photos of my boys.
14. My most memorable travel experience was… traveling to India with my two boys and my parents.
15. I’m dying to splurge on… cool furniture pieces.
16. One thing people don’t realize about the fashion industry… everyone has their insecurities, even supermodels.
17. My favorite place to shop… is Amazon.
18. The best surprising advice for looking great in a photo is… don’t be afraid to show raw sides of yourself.
19. My most treasured possession is… pictures of my family.
20. My biggest fashion regret is… no regrets! Every style was important in the moment.  
21. One thing I wish people knew about me… I like to leave a piece of me in every project I am a part of.
