Moon Moment
Make a neutral manicure pop with a few strokes of bronze on the moons as showcased at the Preen Fall 2019 show.
Moon Moment
An understated neutral manicure was enlivened with sparkly silver moons at Tibi. Editorial manicurist Jin Soon Choi used JINsoon Nail Polish in Dulcet ($18) and Glitzy ($18) with Matte Maker Top Coat ($18) to create the low-key nail art.
Moon Moment
What looks like a metallic nail at first is really a shimmering half moon. The effect at Badgley Mischka was created with a base color of Deborah Lippmann Gel Lab Pro Color in Radiate ($20) and a half moon in Gel Lab Pro Color in I Like It Like That ($20).
Moon Moment
The minimalist manicure at Antonio Marras checked off multiple nail trends (neutral nail polishes, easy nail art, embellishment, moons). It also presented a clever use for that random bag of beads everyone has.
New Neutrals
The beauty look at Lela Rose was all about refined elegance. Everything exuded that, from the beige nail polish to the glowing skin to the stacked barrettes.
New Neutrals
It wouldn't be the Kate Spade New York show without glitter. The barely-there base had a light dusting of gold sparkle courtesy of nail artist Julie Kandalec. She used Essie Nail Polish in Summit of Style ($9).
New Neutrals
Greige was the color of choice for manicures at Elie Tahari. It's a slightly cooler hue than traditional beige.
New Neutrals
The eyes at 3.1 Phillip Lim might have been graphic, but the nails were beautifully subtle. Jin Soon Choi applied her Matte Maker Top Coat ($18) over Nail Polish in Nostalgia ($18) for a clean finish.
French Manicure 2.0
The House of Holland Fall 2019 show reworked the idea of matching makeup and nails with blue eyeshadow bringing out the base color in an updated take on the French manicure.
French Manicure 2.0
Who says you need a contrasting nail polish to emphasize the tips? Fashion East used embellishment on the tips of gray nails rather than a polish.
French Manicure 2.0
French manicures came in all color combos at Roberta Einer. The more unexpected they were, the better. Check out this neon green base with hot pink tips.
French Manicure 2.0
The French manicure was literally fire at Philipp Plein. Nail pro Mei Kawajiri created flame designs on the tips of nails using red, black and neon yellow nail polishes. It was one hot look.
Multicolored Manis
What wasn't on the statement nails at Manish Arora? The CND team decorated nails with different colored stripes and statement decals. There was everything from 3-D stars to rainbows to flames in reference to the Burning Man theme.
Multicolored Manis
United Colors of Benetton stayed true to its name with this rainbow manicure. It's the multicolored look we loved as a kid. We adore it just as much now.
Multicolored Manis
These two-tone nails from the Chromat Fall 2019 show are something anyone can pull off. Paint your nails with an opaque base color then apply splotches of a contrasting sheer nail polish on top. Nail artists Eda and Anna Levenson created the look with CND products.
Multicolored Manis
Who is going to complain about multiple shimmering shades? The megawatt nails at Halpern gave the gold leaf watercolor eyes some competition for fiercest detail.
Blinging Accents
Nails and eyes got a pearly finish at ADEAM. Whether nails were painted shimmering ivory or royal blue, nail artist Mei Kawajiri bedazzled them with pearl studs.
Blinging Accents
Iceberg brought the shimmering ice, ice baby with a myriad of rhinestones covering all 10 digits.
Blinging Acccents
The two-tone colored mascara grabbed our attention at Vivetta, but the your-nails-but-better neutral manicure with rhinestone-encrusted pinkies didn't go unnoticed.
Blinging Accents
There was embellishment everywhere at Christian Siriano. Besides the face diamantés, Essie Global Lead Educator Rita Remark painted nails with the brand's Licorice Nail Polish ($9) then applied dozens of sparkling Swarovski crystals down the side.
Regal Red
Lips and tips coordinated at Oscar de la Renta. Editorial nail artist Miss Pop applied Zoya Nail Polish in Alyssa ($10) to play off the soft-focus red lips.
Regal Red
The long red talons were the focal point of the beauty look at Ashley Williams. There's no faulting a true red nail lacquer and long oval nails.
Regal Red
Don't let the major fringing on the ring distract from the timeless red nails at Prabal Gurung. Miss Pop created the gorgeous look with Zoya Nail Polish in Vanessa ($10). Some models had a neutral negative space accent to play off the rich raspberry.
Regal Red
Red lips are stunning. And a red manicure is always beautiful. Combine them together and you get something timelessly elegant. It never hurts to add a coordinating bag. See: Emporio Armani.

No fashion month recap would be complete without dissecting the nail trends. Beauty is a full-package deal, and we’ve already discussed makeup and hair from the Fall 2019 shows. When we weren’t thinking about flashy hair accessories and embellished eyes, we were dreaming about recreating many of the nail looks.
Manicurists in New York, London, Milan and Paris seemed to have a cohesive vision this season about championing classic nail looks. Of course, they did it with subtle tweaks to keep things exciting. There were purist French manicures at the shows, but we more often saw them reworked in neon color schemes and graphic shapes. Sometimes the tips were enhanced with bling as opposed to the traditional white line. When the ends weren’t the focus, the moons were. The eye was drawn (slightly) down the nail with reverse French manicures, graphic lines and well-placed embellishment.
In terms of colors, a classic red nail polish appeared again and again. But there were differences in shades and nail shapes. Neutral nails were also a common sight and another fantastic option for anyone looking for office-friendly manicure trends. Those who are hoping for something extra from the Fall 2019 shows will be satisfied by the liberal use of embellishment and nail polish colors. Some statement looks featured the full rainbow.
Don’t wait until fall to try out these new manicures. Click through the gallery to see the fall nail trends 2019 has in store.
