Shades of Crimson
Chalayan served up 90s-style lips with a burgundy lip liner encircling an understated crimson lip color. The softer finish played into the Popsicle-mouth trend.
Shades of Crimson
A slick of warm red lipstick was the only color used on the face at Salvatore Ferragamo. Other models received burgundy or fuchsia kissers.
Shades of Crimson
The gold eyes with ruby red lips at Luisa Beccaria oozed regal beauty. The makeup didn't go unnoticed, even when models were wearing tiaras and veils.
Glitter Shower
The eyes definitely had it at Halpern, where makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench created a disco watercolor effect by applying bold pigments with layered gold leaf. Try the look at your next big celebration.
Glitter Shower
Ashish showcased the visual definition of glitterbomb with its sparkling makeup courtesy of Isamaya Ffrench. The makeup wiz dusted two shades of MAC Cosmetics Glitter on lips and three shades on eyes. Black glitter was sprinkled on brows for definition.
Glitter Shower
Shimmer isn't restricted to loose sparkle. The Marco De Vincenzo show gave us a beautiful reminder with diamanté faux freckles. Remember the look for festival season.
Glitter Shower
As much as we love to pile on glitter, makeup artist Peter Philips made a case for using some restraint at Dries Van Noten. The dusting of sparkle didn't overpower eyes.
Micro Liner
Look closely to see the super skinny black liner at Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini. The delicate eyeliner was enhanced with a touch of smudged shadow.
Micro Liner
One could almost miss the thin black liner rimming the lower lash line at Ashley Williams. Aveda Global Artistic Director and Educator Janell Geason showed her steady hand. Get practicing.
Micro Liner
The electric red lips were undoubtedly the focal point at Marta Jakubowski, but we still noticed the pencil-thin black liner drawn around the entire eye.
Micro Liner
Rather than only wearing mascara, try only using a touch of black eyeliner, like at Calvin Luo. The defined perimeter is subtle, but it does make a difference. Work it in a no-makeup makeup look.
New Wings
Two flicks are better than one, especially if they are metallic silver. Makeup artist Janeen Witherspoon used Mehron mixing mediums to create the look at Bora Aksu, but a silver liquid liner, like the Laura Geller Line-n-Define Dual Dimension Eyeliner in Platinum ($24), would achieve the same effect.
New Wings
Flicked finish? Not here. A handful of shows opted for a thicker, geometric corner, as seen at Bibhu Mohapatra.
New Wings
Is it a struggle to draw a continuous flick? Try the floating wings at Natasha Zinko. Take a cue from makeup artist Lucy Burt and draw the triangles in neon shades.
New Wings
Apply confident dashes across the entire eye area like makeup artist Diane Kendal did at 3.1 Phillip Lim. It's crease eyeliner deconstructed.
Painterly Beauty
The eyes looked like mini modern paintings at Francesca Liberatore thanks to the swatches of complementary colors applied by makeup artist Markus Theisen.
Painterly Beauty
Artful splotches updated black smoky eyes at Proenza Schouler. It's a cool reminder to stop trying to make makeup look "perfect" or symmetrical.
Painterly Beauty
At Collina Strada the eyes were the perfect canvas for pastel splatters. The makeup rivals a watercolor painting.
Painterly Beauty
There was no disguising the smudges of black on the eyes at Sportmax behind sunglasses. It proves that it's alright to mess up mascara.
Popsicle Mouth
It was all about a bright, just-bitten lip at Zadig & Voltaire. Laneige Two Tone Lipstick ($27) makes it easy to achieve the ombre effect.
Popsicle Mouth
The frosted white mascara at Genny was captivating. It was made even prettier with the soft-focus pink lipstick.
Popsicle Mouth
At Roksanda, makeup artist Miranda Joyce for MAC Cosmetics showed the versatility of berry lipstick by applying it in varying intensities. This stained tint was the less-fussy version.
One-Two Punch
The electric eyes at Chromat took inspiration from the neon swimwear. Makeup artist Fatima Thomas for MAC Cosmetics blended zingy shadows from the outer corners into the hairline. A final sweep of contrasting eyeliner made it more extra.
One-Two Punch
Can't decide on a single mascara color? Choose two à la Vivetta. The runway showed every combination wins.
One-Two Punch
Marni typically offers natural makeup inspiration, so this two-tone eyeshadow was a surprise. It's unlikely anyone has tried a greenish gray and mustard yellow combination before.
One-Two Punch
Forget about the gravity-defying peaked hair at Iceberg. It is the hot pink eye makeup that's the real feat. The look manages to be softly smoky yet graphic thanks to the applications.
60s Statement Lashes
Makeup artist Peter Philips paid tribute to the Swinging Sixties at Dior by painting strokes on the bottom lash line to mimic exaggerated lashes. Twiggy would approve.
60s Statement Lashes
The makeup at Brandon Maxwell had every mod element, including white eyeshadow, exaggerated lashes and a neutral lip. Yet, makeup artist Tom Pecheux for MAC Cosmetics managed to make it look quite modern. Achieve the wispy lash effect by cutting up false lashes and gluing them on randomly. Then be very generous with mascara.
60s Statement Lashes
There are statement lashes and then there are statement lashes. Isamaya Ffrench at Vivienne Westwood showed one of the most extreme finishes with these bat-worthy falsies.
60s Statement Lashes
The skin was gleaming at Courrèges, but it couldn't quite outshine the dramatic lashes. Supersized individual falsies were applied around the entire eye.

Fashion month has something for everyone, whether you’re into beauty, fashion trends, street style or all of the above. Those who tune in to the shows to see what makeup artists dream up are going to be excited about the inspiration from Fall 2019. The fashion shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris featured stunning makeup looks.
The makeup teams continued to expand the definition of winged liner with flicks of all shapes, thicknesses and colors. Next, there were eye makeup looks that featured two striking details. Just one would have commanded ample attention, but the combination took it to the next level. We’ve dubbed it “one-two punch makeup.”
We had to look closely to notice it, but barely-visible eyeliner was also a makeup trend. Something that we didn’t have to look quite so hard to notice were the statement lashes. They often had a 60s vibe that would make Twiggy proud.
A painterly makeup application was seen at various shows. The looks ranged from splodges and dabs of eyeshadow to more editorial looks with blotches and color drips. In keeping with the extra mood, there was a generous sprinkling of glitter and diamantés at fashion month, proving sparkle isn’t going anywhere.
Lips often took a back seat to eyes. When kissers were the statement (or co-statement), the timeless beauty of red lipstick was celebrated. Rather than a true red, a deeper, more autumnal crimson shade held particular sway. The finish of lip colors was also key. A stained look was a favorite to create a just-bitten vibe.
