Vogue Germany’s 40th anniversary celebrations are still in full swing, but the magazine’s offerings over the last 10 months simply haven’t been enough to impress. Covers with Gisele Bündchen, Victoria Beckham and Diane Kruger have been dismissed by our forums and now the publication has enlisted Gigi Hadid as its November cover star in an attempt to generate buzz. Marking her seventh Vogue cover appearance of 2019, the current face of Moschino, Prada and Burberry dons a sequin Michael Kors Collection number picked by Christiane Arp for the cover shot captured by photographer Giampaolo Sgura.
The cover wasn’t for everyone. “Don’t like the cover. It’s not awful by any stretch, but even ELLE France would turn this down. Way too basic for Vogue,” proclaimed Benn98.
“The cover is really not bad and Gigi looks nice. But not a ‘great’ cover by any means,” dodencebt chimed in.
“What a cheap knockoff of Vogue Russia’s cover with Bella Hadid where she is also sitting. They even copied the way she sat. Next,” called out an underwhelmed MON.

The questionable styling soon came under fire. “Wow that styling makes her head look a really strange shape. Not good at all,” disapproved SLFC.
“They made her look like she’s in her 40s,” exclaimed HeatherAnne.
Bertrando3 wasn’t a fan, either. “What the hell?”
“Well this is just deeply uninteresting,” stated lelaid.
“It’s not entirely terrible. This is how Gigi looks. Photographers really have to work hard to shoot her just right. Usually makeup artists go heavy on the contouring and bronzer. If anything, this is more natural than what we’re used to seeing from her,” defended GivenchyHomme.
“Giving me Michaela Bercu circa 1988 vibes,” shared FashionMuseDior.
