It’s painful to witness Vogue Italia’s rapid descent into mediocrity with the title’s September issue practically going unnoticed on our forums. Emanuele Farneti is certainly not a great fit for the once-iconic publication and our forum members have called out several of his recent covers starring Gigi Hadid, Anok Yai, Amber Valletta and Freja Beha Erichsen. In an attempt to regain its popularity, Jaden and Willow Smith were picked as the Italian fashion bible’s cover stars for October 2019 with the siblings posing before the lens of Hugo Comte.
For a few of our forum members, the cover was a step in the right direction. “Farneti actually producing a cover that’s OK?” asked MON. “I actually like it. Take out the fact that it’s the Smiths, the concept is quite cute.”
“I thought it would be trash judging by the title, but it’s OK. Still doesn’t feel right giving them a Vogue Italia cover though, even though that doesn’t mean much anymore,” wrote Scotty.
“I’m confused about this. I like it and I don’t. I love Hugo’s style and homage to good old photography, but this is weird. It may also be the only time their weird text works on a cover. The siblings are a weird cover choice, although I don’t mind it cause they both look good,” aracic chimed in.

In the same frame of mind was Fiercification: “Hugo Comte’s photography is lovely and this cover is proof of that, however I can understand why the image rubs people the wrong way. It is pretentious and just as trite a concept as every other cover by Farneti.”
“Glad to see Hugo Comte get a cover! I wish they didn’t try so hard to be unique and had it rotated normally, then it would’ve been a great cover! Also I didn’t realize Willow and Jaden Smith were still relevant enough to get a Vogue cover,” said Mercury6181.
TheoG simply described the cover as “gorgeous.”
