Everywhere you look there are CBD oil-infused products. CBD balms, CBD masks, CBD moisturizers…you get the idea. So what’s the scoop?
CBD (short for cannabidiol) is, of course, derived from cannabis (sans the psychoactive THC so you don’t have to worry about getting high) — and that’s just one of many things that makes it exciting. We talked to Dr. Jame Heskett, founder of The Wellpath Clinic in New York City, and she broke down some of the popular ingredient’s top benefits.
Heskett says that CBD oil is “highly anti-inflammatory,” making it a promising treatment for acne, eczema and other skin conditions. She also notes that it’s sebotastic (which means that “it inhibits the growth of cells that produce sebum”), another attribute that makes it great for acne and oily skin. Plus, you know how antioxidants are key to protecting your complexion from the elements? CBD happens to be a “potent antioxidant,” which means it may “play a role in the prevention of age-related changes in the skin.”
